How Microdermabrasion Works
Microdermabrasion is a facial rejuvenation technique that works by removing small amounts of your skin through an abrasive process. In addition to dead, dull layers of outer skin, microdermabrasion also removes dirt, bacteria, grease, and other contaminants that can stress your skin. But unlike traditional microdermabrasion, which used a sandblaster of jagged crystals to wear away your skin, our Hydrajet facial, often combined with Microdermabrasion uses sound waves that are mediated by a liquid, which can contain numerous nutrients or medications that your skin needs, nutrients or medications that can actually be pushed into the skin by the handpiece, improving absorption and protecting the skin from further dryness or damage that traditional microdermabrasion could sometimes cause.
In addition to removing surface layers of skin, the ultrasound waves penetrate deep into the skin, stimulating your body to produce additional collagen, which helps restore the skin. It also stimulates circulation, bringing more of your body’s natural healing compounds to the treatment area to help the rejuvenation process.
Although each microdermabrasion treatment will show some effect, maximum effectiveness is achieved with a series of five or six treatments.
