I was running late and had to go out of town the next day. The wonderful staff still got me in for an appointment, and answered some consulting questions on top of it. I always have an amazing experience here, and Dr. Janowski always makes me feel natural and never “over done.” Would never go anywhere else at this point!

Everything You Need to Know Before Getting Botox® or Dysport*
As Dysport injections grow in popularity, and more and more clinicians enter the field to provide these services, it is important to take a careful look at who is providing the services. In most states, only an MD can inject, however, in Colorado, both nurses and Physician’s Assistants can also legally inject Dysport, as long as they are directly supervised by a Physician. While some medi-spas have aestheticians doing the injections, this is not totally legal nor advisable. (See Rule 800, Colorado Board of Medical Examiners) To become more informed before buying Dysport or other neuromodulators, read our guide below:
Dysport is a neurotoxin, which means it uses a small dose of bottulinum toxin, to temporarily paralyze the muscles in the area injected. While its primary use is to smooth out wrinkles in the upper face, it can also be used to calm the muscles that cause headaches, excessive sweating, or teeth grinding.
Dysport typically lasts about 3 months from the time it was injected. If you received Dysport in an area that moves a lot, it may wear off more quickly. As the Dysport wears off, you will notice that you are able to make the expressions that cause the wrinkles more and more easily. Injections are most effective when received every 3 months, and regular use can not only reverse the signs of aging, but actually prevent wrinkles from appearing. Ideally, you don’t want to prevent any and all expression, but rather to soften lines,  achieving a natural but youthful look.
It is very common on your first Dysport treatment to come back in to your provider for a touch up, as you learn which muscles in your face are the strongest and most resistant.
Dysport has very few side-effects, and most people receive the injections and go right back to their daily tasks. You may experience some very minor bruising in the injection site – though Dysport is injected with a very small needle and the vast majority of people have no bruising. Immediately following the injections, you may have some red bumps as the product settles in – these should resolve in about 30 minutes. We offer our clients ice and topical Arnica cream immediately following the procedure which should help quickly resolve any redness or minor swelling.
Some people may experience was is called “distal spread” of Dysport, meaning it can spread from the injection site and can affect unintended areas. This is extremely rare, and while it can be annoying, it does resolve as the neuromodulator dissipates over the course of three months.
Many people ask if getting Dysport injections hurt – and while it may be very slightly uncomfortable while you are getting an injection, the needle used is very tiny, and the injections are quick. Most people describe it as a momentary sting.
Dysport takes between 3-7 days to take effect, so you won’t see anything immediately following treatment. However, within a week following the treatment, you will notice a lessened ability to make the expressions that cause the wrinkles of concern. Most people report feeling fresher, younger-looking, and extremely pleased with their results.*
