What is a Plasma Facial
What Is a Plasma Facial?
A Plasma Facial is where we use your body’s natural regenerative potential to give your face back the elasticity, glow, and suppleness of youthful skin.
A Vital Ingredient, Delivered Expertly
There are two things that combine to give the plasma facial its rejuvenation power. First, it takes a powerful source of vitality from your own blood. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is the nutrient-rich fluid in your blood combined with the blood-clotting elements. The plasma brings not just nutrients but also powerful proteins that stimulate your body to grow new tissue. Platelets are responsible for stopping bleeding when you are cut, but their role in healing goes beyond that. We’re not sure what all they do, but we know that the body sends them to all injury sites, even where there’s no risk of bleeding.
In a plasma facial, we deliver PRP to your skin using microneedling. Microneedling is a technique where a powered needle creates numerous tiny punctures in the skin, delivering small amounts of medication in a shallow diffuse pattern to directly benefit the skin. The small punctures are valuable, too, because they further stimulate the body to engage its healing response.
Gradual Improvement, Long-Lasting Results
A Plasma Facial won’t give you overnight results. It takes 3-6 treatments, spaced about two weeks apart, to get optimal results from a Plasma Facial. This can actually be good. Your skin might seem red the day of treatment, but is typically fully healed by 48 hours after the procedure. Then your skin will go beyond basic healing as the additional nutrients and stimulants drive the skin to produce more collagen and elastin. This will help your skin lose its dull, thin, crepey appearance. It will become thicker, suppler, and more radiant.
The improved healing response can even help your skin “re-do” imperfect healing from the past, such as scars left from acne or shingles.
