Love your inner (and outer) goddess
by Elizabeth Janowski
A patient emailed me this morning. She said she looks often at all of the patients on our site, and at all of our staff … and that they all looked so good, so youthful. She said she didn’t feel that way — and asked how she could look better too.
I know this patient well. She has a stressful life and carries the problems of her family heavily on her shoulders.
Her question weighed on me, and I wanted to reach through the Internet, grab her, and pull her in for a hug. You see, it is our mission to truly meet you where you are at, take your hand, make you smile, share our knowledge, and help you live more confidently.
It is our highest goal to help each patient feel more comfortable in their own skin – to look in the mirror and see a reflection that they like. Of course, beauty comes from within, but there is a reflexivity with what you see on the outside. If you are fixated on a feature about yourself that you don’t like, it can hold you back from stepping in to your divine light.
We have so many options for things that can help take that worry and anxiety off your plate, and let you move on to focus on more important things — like parenthood, or success, or love.
For women, we believe there is a goddess that lives inside each one of us. You may feel her every day – giving you strength and encouragement — or she may be suppressed under years of neglect. But, she is there. She can guide you, love you, drive you, and inspire you. She has knowledge to share and can point you towards your highest good.
I think this goddess needs attention. I know once I started to listen to my inner voice, everything changed for me. Doors opened. Bliss was unleashed. The days seemed longer and brighter. The nights seemed sweeter and softer.
My goddess loves to be nurtured. She likes time in nature, music, baths, candles. She likes moments with her friends, afternoons cuddling her children, and a cozy bed to sleep in. I have found that the more I honor her, the more strength I have for work, and motherhood, and just for life in general.
My goddess also likes to look in the mirror and appreciate her reflection. I love to see my glow after a beautiful day with my family, or my bright eyes after a deep revelation. But, I also like to see clear skin, full cheeks, and lovely eyelashes. These are the decorations of my goddess – and I like them.
I like to feel radiant when I go out. I like to see photos of myself, and to appreciate those pictures – instead of cropping or deleting or editing them.
I want the same for you. I want you to honor yourself – and I want you to feel good about YOU, inside and out.
Practically, if you are feeling old and tired, we recommend rest, time outside, and maybe a chemical peel to remove dull skin. Dysport® can help you relax the muscles that cause an angry or dour expression. Filler can lift your cheeks, smooth lines, fill in hollows, straighten your nose, and more. Laser treatments can rejuvenate, tighten, and brighten skin.
Liposuction can help you feel more confident in clothes, and J Plasma can turn the clock back 10 or more years on your facial aging.
At home, we recommend drinking water, properly wearing sunscreen daily, avoiding excessive sugar, and using Retin-A and a Vitamin-C serum.
We are here, waiting to partner with you, to help inform you and to support you as you take steps to feel your best. We will be here cheering you on, laughing with you and sometimes crying with you.
We will do our best to help you feel your most confident, so that you can shine brighter and light up those around you.
One empowered, confident, joyful woman (or man) has huge ripple effects on the world. Your own radiance impacts those around you – and sends out tendrils of support to all those you met.
If we can play a small part in your journey to blissful empowerment, and to loving yourself, then that is our great honor – and our mission in life.
