Halo: A hybrid fractional laser
Smoother, more youthful looking skin – without surgery!
by Elizabeth Janowski
Our amazing new Halo laser uses two laser wavelengths at the same time – that is what makes it a hybrid laser. This means that this ground-breaking device delivers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths at the same time. This allows for superior results and controls downtime. Halo does this by delivering simultaneous ablation and coagulation. So, that means that at the same time that Halo is causing the tiny micro-injuries that really change and heal the skin, it is also using heat to “heal” those injuries and stimulate collagen production. Halo combines deep dermal rejuvenation with (surface) epidermal renewal for a combined synergistic effect you can’t get with any other treatment.
There is a reason why Halo treatments are a celebrity staple, as well as New Beauty magazine award winner. The results combined with a super easy recovery make this treatment extremely popular the world over.
My Halo Treatment
I had a Halo treatment done on a Wednesday afternoon, and I have been amazed at how easy the treatment has been. We numbed my face with numbing cream for thirty minutes prior to the treatment. We removed the numbing cream, and began the (easy) treatment. I have had almost every treatment we offer – and some we have tried and decided not to offer – and I can tell you, this is one of the easier ones we offer.
The treatment itself has a hot feeling to it. The device is rubbed over your face in a wave like motion. A few paces are done in each area. I experienced the treatment as a sort of hot microdermabrasion.
The treatment was extremely tolerable and quick.
Afterwards, my skin was hot and pink, and we applied a cooling mask (the Skin Ceuticals Phyto Corrective Masque). My skin continued to feel hot and somewhat tender for about 2 hours post-treatment. I continued with my normal activities – picking up my kiddos, etc..
My face did appear just the slightest bit swollen for the rest of the day.
That night, I reapplied some Phyto Corrective Masque as my only nighttime skin care.
The next morning, I was surprised to see that my skin was just the slightest bit pink – and ever so slightly (likely not noticeable to anyone else) swollen. I put on sunscreen (it’s critical to protect your healing skin from the sun), some powder, and went about my day.
It’s now been 48+ hours, and I can say that the recovery has been seamless and easy.
My skin already looks tighter. This afternoon (48 hours post), I’ve begun experiencing some very light flaking – which should reveal smoother, softer skin. I can see some pigment surfacing and darkening, especially along my hairline.
Outside of the first day, when I was red, no one knows I had anything done.
I am super excited for our patients to try this treatment – which I think they will receive great benefit from and find very tolerable.
Halo is a customizable treatment and good for most skin types and skin conditions – and we look forward to sharing more with you!
