What is a great treatment to start with?
By Elizabeth Janowski
We often get asked “what is good treatment to start with”? Maybe you’ve heard about Botox®/Dysport® or fillers from your friends? Maybe you talked to someone who had a chemical peel? Or maybe you have noticed your face is looking a little older in photos and you want to look a bit fresher?
What treatment is best for you can vary – depending on your needs and goals – which is why every visit to Sonata begins with a complete and complimentary educational consultation. We learn about you, and share the many options that may work best for your particular concern and unique face. We almost always also do a VISIA skin analysis which uses a high-tech camera to take multiple images of your face and helps us analyze your overall skin health.
We want you to feel your best and most beautiful and in fact, we believe it is your right to feel as good on the outside as you do on the inside. So many of us spend lots of time and effort getting our bodies in shape – and we think it is also important to get your face and skin in great shape. We want you to reflect your best to the world!
A lot of our beautiful patients start with Botox®/Dysport®. Dysport®, Botox®, and Xeomin are basically all the same – and they are neuro-toxins, which means they relax the muscles in the areas where they are injected. These products are generally used to smooth lines in the upper third of the face – maybe those bothersome frown lines, or your crow’s feet. Neuro-toxins have so many uses – and one of our favorites is to use it in the jaw to prevent teeth grinding and (over time) to soften your face shape by slimming your lower face.
Another great way to start with aesthetic medicine is to use fillers to lift your mid-face. As we age, we lose collagen in our skin, the fat pads under our skin shrink, and we absorb bone, all making our faces look more hollow and our skin begins to sag. One of the quickest and most satisfying ways to look younger is to get filler in the mid-face. This can lift your face, smooth wrinkles, and restore a more beautiful face shape. Classically, the most beautiful face shape is one where the cheekbones are the apex (or highest point) of your face. Filler can easily help you attain these well-defined cheekbones that often signify youth and beauty.
Maybe it is your skin texture or color that is bothering you? Does your skin feel rough or heavy? Do you have age/sun spots that are bothering you? A great choice for improving your skin’s appearance is an IPL (Intensed Pulsed Light) treatment which uses pulses of light to pull up pigment, which then flakes off – leaving you with a smoother looking complexion. Most of us have far more sun damage and sun spots hiding on our skin than we realize.
Another great skin health choice is microneedling, for which we love to use with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). Microneedling both renews your skin and smooths out rough texture. It’s a great treatment for almost everyone, and your skin will look radiant and refreshed afterwards.
We have so many great treatment options – from medical-grade home skin care products that actually work to micro-surgical choices that are intended to provide more life-changing results. There is something for everyone and every budget – and we want each person to feel empowered that they to can look their best and feel their most confident!
