Metagenics 10 Day Cleanse: (Almost) Halfway!
Detoxifying and feeling great!
So we’re on Day 4 of the Metagenics 10-Day Cleanse, and feeling great! I had better sleep last night than I’ve had in months, my energy has been up, and my body just feels healthier in general. I’m not going to lie and say it’s been easy, but to this point, it’s been worth it. Both my wife, Jill, and I have gotten hangry (hungry + angry)Â at times, are close to being tired of eating fish, and would love nothing more than to have a glass of wine at night, or a cup of coffee in the morning. It would be easy to cheat, but why do that? We’d only be cheating ourselves, and really, it’s only 10 days!
The program recommends that you don’t do any high intensity exercise, as you may not have the energy you’re used to having (limited carbs and sugars). I’ve gone to Orange Theory Fitness and lifted weights in the gym 2 times each so far this week, and I feel great. I do normally drink a lot of water during the day, but I’m making sure that I drink a few more glasses so I don’t get dehydrated at the gym. It’s hard for me to sit around, and I don’t want to be a couch potato while my body is going through these changes.
Other than that, not too many updates to post. I’m a little nervous about the weekend, because that’s usually the time we go out to eat for lunch and/or dinner, go to a brewery to meet up with friends, or get a delicious brunch on Sunday morning. If we go to the movies, we’ll get some water and bring some nuts and fruits to munch on, rather than popcorn. If we meet up with friends, we’ll have water and play games, and then it’s on to the home stretch!
I don’t normally take pictures of my food and share them on social media…but I wanted to document the delicious meals I’ve been making in the last few days. Yesterday for lunch I broiled some Rock Fish in lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil, with some fresh pineapple, garlic, parsley, and red pepper flakes for some heat. I put the fish on top of mixed greens and homemade salad dressing, with some leftover garbanzo beans (from the homemade hummus). Delicious!
Dinner last night and lunch today was a super delicious vegetarian chili (recipe included in the guide).
