The Benefits of Bellafill: Your Long-Term Filler
by Liz Janowski, VP
It’s a little technical, but one of the things that helps make Bellafill so great is that it’s got PMMA. Bellafill contains 20% Polymathic-methacrylate miscrospheres suspended in 80% purified collegian gel. The PMMA helps hold the collegian in place while it breaks down. This process kick-starts your own natural collegian production. That is the main thing that makes Bellafill different from other fillers and helps it last so long, up to five years (or longer)!
PMMA has excellent tissue compatibility and has been used in medical procedures since the 1940s. It was first used to help close gaps in the skull. Today, there are several million procedures conducted every year using PMMA, most of them are joint replacement operations. However, Bellafill is the only FDA approved dermal filler containing PMMA.
Bellafill is ideal for treating medium to deep wrinkles and to fill out pitted scars. Usually, your Bellafill treatment will take place over a couple of visits and it can take up to three months for the full effects to be realized. That said it’s an amazing new treatment and the only semi-long lasting option for fuller youthful skin. As we’ve recently covered on our blog, the #1 ageing factor is loss of volume. For many of us, Bellafill is the perfect long lasting solution! Talk with Dr. Janowski or another member of the team to find out if Bellafill is right for you.
